CaCO3 filler, the kinetics of radical thermal polymn. of styrene [100-42-5] in the presence of I-grafted fillers, and the properties of polymn.-filled polystyrene [9003-53-6] were studied. Grafting on fillers increased the rate consts. of thermal dissocn. of I and, consequently, the rate consts.Several substances like 100-42-5 may be metioned in this study. of polymn. The rate consts. of thermal dissocn. increased with increasing no. of peroxy groups in I, on replacing Me group in I with vinyl group, and in the order: SiO2 < CaCO3 < TiO2 < Al2O3. The highest rate consts. of thermal dissocn., the highest rates of polymn., and the highest polymer yields were obsd. for MeSi(CH:CH2)(OOCMe3)2 (II) [15188-09-7]. The optimal amt. of Al2O3-grafted II in polymn. at 120° was 2% (based on styrene). The concn. of filler-grafted polymer [100-42-5] was 10-20%, regardless of the type of I. The grafting of polystyrene on fillers occurred also when I were present in soln. in nongrafted state. .
