The shifts of the free ligand orbitals and the metal d-orbitals on complexation are discussed in terms of s- and p-interactions. The ionization potentials of the metal d-orbitals are related to the CO stretching frequencies in the complexes. A combination of the PE and UV absorption spectra reveals information about unoccupied orbitals. The 13C-NMR chem. 15228-31-6 is also in the experiment. shifts were interpreted in terms of changing electron densities. .
