Anticholinergic drugs, such as atropine and emepronium, did not exert a similar action. Cyclic AMP phosphodiesterase [9036-21-9] inhibition by flavoxate was ~3 and 5-times greater than that of aminophylline in tissue homogenates of guinea pig ureter and urinary bladder, resp. The local anesthetic activity of flavoxate was similar to that of lidocaine. Myolytic activity of papaverine and flavoxate did not involve inhibition of prostaglandins synthesis in rat urinary bladder in vitro.
