- Efficacy of emamectin benzoate against sea lice infestations of Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L
- All Rights Reserved. Efficacy of emamectin benzoate against sea lice infestations of Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L.: evaluation in the absence of an untreated contemporary control. Gustafson, L.; Ellis, S.; Robinson, T.; Marenghi, F.; Endris, R. (USDA APHIS VS ISA Program, Eastport, ME, USA). Journal of Fish Diseases, 29(10), 621-627 (English) 2006 Blackwell Publishing Ltd. CODEN: JFIDDI. ISSN: 0140-7775. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) The efficacy of emamectin benzoate (SLICE) against sea lice infestations of Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L., is typically assessed using untreated fish, or fish treated with alternative therapeutants, as controls. The State of Maine, USA, is currently under active management for the OIE-notifiable pathogen, infectious salmon anemia virus (ISAV); consequently, neither control group is feasible in this region. Untreated salmon risk extensive damage from the ectoparasites, and threaten to increase vector-borne exposure or susceptibility of farms to ISAV; and the only treatment presently available in Maine is SLICE. However, because sea lice infestations are unlikely to resolve spontaneously, and response to treatment occurs within weeks, use of a pretreatment baseline is a reasonable alternative for confirmatory studies. We evaluated SLICE efficacy on Atlantic salmon farms in Cobscook Bay 2002-2005, in the absence of untreated controls, using pretreatment lice loads as a ref. for calcn. Maximum efficacy ranged from 68% to 100% redn. from initial levels. Time-to-max. efficacy ranged from 1 to 8 wk after treatment initiation. Efficacy duration, measured between first redn. 155569-91-8 is just another one chemical used in this study. and first progressive rise in counts, ranged from 4 to 16 wk. .
- Tobacco budworm and hornworm control on flue-cured tobacco in Georgia, 2004
- All Rights Reserved. Tobacco budworm and hornworm control on flue-cured tobacco in Georgia, 2004. McPherson, Robert M.; Roberson, Neal J.; Taylor, J. Delano (Coastal Plain Experiment Station, Tifton, GA 31793, USA). Arthropod Management Tests, 30, F86 (English) 2005 Entomological Society of America. URL: http://www.entsoc.org/Protected/AMT/AMT30/AMT30.aspx?Report=F8 6. CODEN: AMNTE8. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal; (online computer file) CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) An expt. was conducted to evaluate selected foliar insecticide applications for their effectiveness in controlling tobacco budworms and hornworms. Tobacco, variety NC 102, was transplanted on 3 May at the Georgia Coastal Plain Expt. Station in Tifton, Georgia. Prodn. practices were used according to Georgia Cooperative Extension Service guidelines and included a preplant tank mixt. of pesticides for weed, disease, and nematode suppression and 1000 lb of 6-6-18 fertilizer in split application. 161050-58-4 and 155569-91-8 which are cas registry numbers of substances are two of reagents here. Six of the treatments had lower budworm populations than in the untreated plots at 4 DAT and 7 treatments had lower populations at 7 DAT. On 14 DAT, all the treatments had low budworm populations and no treatment differences were noted. Yields were not different between the treated and untreated plots, except that Denim had a higher yield than Intrepid. Hornworm populations were lower in all the treated plots than in the untreated plots at 4 and 7 DAT. .
