The absence of reaction of I with the related labile platinum complexes [PtCl2(COD)] and cis-[PtCl2(NCPh)2] illustrates that the sulfur atom in I has relatively poor ligand properties. A single-crystal x-ray diffraction study has been carried out on II (M = Rh, X = CO). .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 78 (Inorganic Chemicals and Reactions) cis-[PtCl2(NCC6H5)2] reacts with tert-BuNHCH2CH2NHBu-tert (Bu2en) to give complexes of stoichiometry [PtCl2(NCC6H5)(Bu2en)] (I), [Pt3Cl4(NCC6H5)4(Bu2en)4], and [Pt2Cl2(NCC6H5)3(Bu2en)3]. IR spectra indicated that Bu2en had reacted with NCC6H5 to give a chelating bidentate HN:C(C6H5)N(tert-Bu)CH2CH2NH(tert-Bu) ligand. X-ray anal. of I confirmed this. Only the mol. geometry for I is shown. .
