- Evaluation of fungicidal activity of volatile compounds in a Warburg apparatus. Rytych, B. J.; Zyska, B. J. (Cent. Min. Inst., Katowice, Pol.). Int. Biodeterior. Bull., 13(3), 89-93 (English) 1977. CODEN: IBDBAD. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) Section cross-reference(s): 19 A modified manometric method for evaluating the fungicidal activity of 7 volatile compds. against a group of microorganisms in soil was described. The microorganisms were isolated from the elec.-insulating materials in coal mine. The compds. tested were: p-chlorophenol [106-48-9], 4-chloro-2-methylphenol [1570-64-5], cyclohexylamine [108-91-8], 1,4-dichlorobenzene [106-46-7], 2,4-dichlorophenol [120-83-2], methoxyethylmercuric chloride [123-88-6], and o-nitrophenol [88-75-5]. The fungicidal activity of some 1:1 and 1:1:1 mixts. was also tested. Synergistic activity was found in 7 of 9 mixts. The manometric method gave comparative fungicidal toxic limits similar to that given by the method of W. P. K. Findlay and J. W. Vernon (1951).

- Enzymic oxidation of IAA in lupine plants following treatment with herbicides. Volynets, A. P.; Pal'chenko, L. A. (V. F. Kuprevich Inst. Exp. Bot., Minsk, USSR). Fiziol. Rast. (Moscow), 24(3), 555-9 (Russian) 1977. CODEN: FZRSAV. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) TCA [76-03-9], dalapon [75-99-0], and simazine [122-34-9] inhibited the activity in vitro of indoleacetate oxidase [9027-85-4] from yellow lupine plants; however, 2,4-D Na salt (I Na salt [2702-72-9], 2-methyl-4-chlorophenol (II) [1570-64-5], CCC [999-81-5], and 2,4-dichlorophenol (III) [120-83-2] either slightly activated or did not affect the activity of the oxidase. I Na salt, III, TCA, and simazine inhibited indoleacetate oxidase activity in vivo, but the inhibition was dependent upon the concn. of the growth regulator, suggesting the presence of endogenous regulators in the tissue. The activity of the oxidase was also inhibited by prepns. isolated from yellow lupine plants and by prepd. mixts. of phenolic compds. found in the isolated prepns. Apparently, changes in the concns. and compn. of phenolic compds. either directly or indirectly regulate indoleacetate oxidase activity in lupine plants.
