Thus, acrylic acid 275, N,N-dimethylcyclohexylamine 4, 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol 1.6, and hydroquinone 0.015 part were heated to 100.degree., 500 parts 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether was added dropwise over 6 h, and the mixt. was heated 2 h at 100.degree. and cooled to give epoxy diacrylate (I) [63363-87-1]. I (106 parts) and 74 parts TiO2 were ground to form a paste, and 155 parts paste was mixed with 5 parts tributylphosphine. The mixt. (25 parts) and 0.75 part ethyl phenylglyoxylate [1603-79-8] were mixed to give a coating compn. which was applied at 0.008 mm thickness to an Al substrate and passed under 4 UV lamps to give a wrinkle-free dry coating with fair adhesion to the substrate.

Et benzoylformate (I) [1603-79-8] was used as a model substrate, and 1-benzyl-1,4-dihydronicotinamide (II) [952-92-1] as a NADH-model compd. I exhibits 2 well defined, 1-electron redn. waves in MeCN. In the presence of Mg2+ or Li+, the potentials of these waves shifted towards more pos. values owing to the ion-pair formation between the metal cations and the anionic species produced at the electrode. The anodic peak potential of II shifted towards more pos. values by the addn. of the metal ions. The charge-transfer process involved in the homogeneous redox reactions of II proceeds via a complex like II metal ion-I. The effect of ion-pairing is the main factor in catalytic actions of metal ions.
