New dextran derivatives. II. Preparation of compounds of copper(II) with 3-mercapto-2-hydroxypropyl ether of dextran. Mioduszewski, Jan Z.; Mioduszewska, Mieczyslawa (Dep. Nat. Compd., Inst. Pharm. Ind., Warsaw 01-793, Pol.). Arch. Immunol. Ther. Exp., 31(5), 669-75 (English) 1983. CODEN: AITEAT. ISSN: 0004-069X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 1, 33 Hydrogenated 3-mercapto-2-hydroxypropyl dextran ether was prepd. from Na2S and hydrogenated 3-chloro-2-hydroxyproyl dextran ether, and the mercapto ether was mixed with a CuSO4 soln. under N and then with Na2S soln. to give the CuS complex. The dark-brown soln. was filtered, ultrafiltered, pptd. 62340-64-1 and 7758-98-7 are also in the experiment. with Me2CO twice, and dried under reduced pressure. The complex contained 2.25% Cu; fractions with the highest mol. wt. contained the most Cu, up to 5%. If cupric lactate [16039-52-4] were used instead of CuSO4 it was possible to purify the product by EtOH pptn. instead of ultrafiltration. The powder was easily sol. in H2O or saline, and 15-20% solns. in ampuls contg. N could be sterilized at 115°. The compd. had antianemic activity (synergism with iron dextran) and immunotropic activity. .
