DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 26 (Condensed Aromatic Compounds) Section cross-reference(s): 11, 27, 30, 32 Exts. of the wood of Indian D. montana contained diospyrin (I) and 3,5'-O-cyclodiospyrin (II). Exts. of the bark of D. montana afforded 7-methyljuglone, mamegakinon, biramentacenone, (I), isodiospyrin, (II), 8'-hydroxydiospyrin, 3'-chloro-2'-hydroxydiospyrin, the chromenone ester III (R = Et), and the chromenone acid III (R = H). The CHCl3 ext. of D. montana from Thailand contained 2'- and 3'-chlorodiospyrin. The three chlorodiospyrins are formed from diosquinone during the extn. process. The ext. from the D. montana bark contained allobetulin and oxyallobetulin as well as the expected triterpenoids. .
