Al(O3SR)3 (R = C10-22 alkyl) which gave NaO3SR of high purity upon hydrolysis. Thus, 5.2 g tridecylaluminum [1726-66-5] and 3.66 g I were heated at 175-85.degree. for 6 h, cooled, and hydrolyzed with NaOH to give 34% anionic detergent. The detergents were esp. useful in secondary recovery of oil from oil wells because of their high detergency and hydrolytic stability at high temps. .
