Ethylene (10 kg/cm2) was polymd. at 70.degree. in the presence of I (91 mg Mg) and Et2AlCl (II) [96-10-6] (II/Mg molar ratio 4.27) with catalyst activity 880 g polymer/g(Mg).h. The polyethylene [9002-88-4] obtained was free from Me group (IR spectrum) and had crystallinity 70%.

P and Ca compds. at 1:1 at. ratio P-Ca. Then, 4 parts polyester was blended with 1 part poly(ethylene terephthalate) contg. Mg(OAc)2.4H2O [16674-78-5] and Et acid phosphate at 0.5:1 at. ratio P-Mg [giving 0.9:1 at. ratio P-(Ca + Mg)] and extruded at 290° to form a sheet. After application of ~10 kV to form static electricity on the hot surface, the film was quenched by a cooling drum to give a 15-m biaxially oriented product (at 3.1:1 ratio in the longitudinal direction and 3.5:1 ratio in the transverse direction) with degree of variation in the film thickness 0.10 m and coeff. of friction 0.34. A polyester compn. not. contg. a Mg compd. gave a film with thickness variation >0.3 m.
