DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 70 (Nuclear Phenomena) The radioactive decay of 7.4 min 203At [21459-53-0] to 203Po [16729-74-1] was studied with mass sepd. sources from the UNISOR facility. Time-sequenced spectra of g-rays, x-rays, and conversion e were obtained, together with ggt, gxt, e-gt, and e-xt coincidence data. A decay scheme was constructed that incorporates ~90% of the decay intensity assigned to 203At. All excited states <1 MeV were assigned unique spin-parity values, and the obsd. level scheme can be qual. understood in terms of a particle-core weak coupling description. The ground-state decay energy was deduced to be QEC = 5.06 ± 0.20 MeV from g-ray gated EC/b+ ratios. .
