Pentafluoropyridine was treated successively with aq. NH3, 1M NaOH, and defluorinated with anhyd. hydrazine to give 4-amino-3-fluoro-2(1H)pyridinone. This was treated successively with (Me3Si)2NH and 1-O-acetyl-2,3,5-tri-O-benzoyl-b-D-ribofuranose/SnCl4 to give I (R1 = F, R2 = R4 = R5 = BzO, R3 = H) which was treated with NaOMe in MeOH to give ribofuranosylpyridinone II. 1682-20-8 and 107842-72-8 which are cas registry numbers of substances are two of reagents here. II had VR values of 1.10 against rhino-2 virus and 1.41 against vaccinia virus. .
