DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 27 (Heterocyclic Compounds (One Hetero Atom)) Nitration of thiocoumarin I (R = OH, R1 = H) gave 94% I (R = OH, R1 = NO2), which was treated with POCl3 to give 93% I (R = Cl, R1 = NO2) (II). Reaction of II with HNR2R3 (NR2R3 = morpholino, piperidino; R2 = H, R3 = H, Me, Bu, CMe3, benzyl, Ph; R2 = R3 = Et) gave 65-95% III, which were reduced to give 56-98% III (R1 = NH2). .
