WO 9701613 A1 16 Jan 1997, 12 pp. DESIGNATED STATES: W: CA, NO, SE, US. (English). (World Intellectual Property Organization). CODEN: PIXXD2. CLASS: ICM: C09K003-22. ICS: C04B007-48. APPLICATION: WO 1996-FI368 25 Jun 1996. PRIORITY: FI 1995-3165 26 Jun 1995; FI 1995-5482 14 Nov 1995. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 59 (Air Pollution and Industrial Hygiene) The invention relates to a method for suppressing dust emissions from an expanded clay made up of porous particles, and to an expanded clay produced by the method. The essential idea of the invention is that the surface of the expanded clay particles is treated with a soln. 16949-65-8 and 141-53-7 which are cas registry numbers are also used here. which contains an alkali metal salt or earth alkali metal salt, where after the particles are dried. The treatment may be carried out by immersing the particles in the soln. or by spraying the soln. onto the particles. Suitable salts include sodium and potassium formates and sodium silicate. The amt. of alkali metal salt or earth alkali metal salt introduced onto the surface of the particles may in expanded clay according to the invention be approx. 0.5-6%, most preferably approx. 2.0-4.0%, of the wt. of the expanded clay. .

CLASS: IC: C09D001-02. APPLICATION: JP 75-17958 14 Feb 1975. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 42 (Coatings, Inks, and Related Products) An inorg. material compn. contg. a H2O-sol. silicate salt, modified H2O-sol. silicate salt obtained by treating the H2O-sol. silicate salt with a metal fluoride and(or) a modified silicate salt obtained by treating the H2O-sol. silicate salt with a metal oxide and(or) hydroxide, as binder, a polyphosphate and(or) a phosphate salt, and possibly a filler is coated on an asbestos plate (sp. gr. .ltoreq.1.7, CaO content .ltoreq.2%) to give a decorative asbestos slate plate. Thus, a mixt. of 80 parts Zn(OH)2 and 20 parts SiO2 was baked 10 hr at 100.degree. to give ZnSiO3 which (150 parts) was mixed with 150 parts 50% aq. AlPO4 and 25 parts Al2H3(PO4)3 powder, stirred, mixed with 10 parts Ca(OH)2, heated 5 hr at 160.degree., giving a polyphosphate. A mixt. of polyphosphate 21 aluminum metaphosphate 21, mica 2, Cr2O3 15, H2O 65 was dispersed to give a slurry which was mixed with 70 parts binder obtained by heating a mixt. of 50% aq. Na2SiO3 90, MgSiF6 10, H2O 60 parts for 3 hr at (80.degree.) and 50 parts 30% H2SiO3 colloidal soln. The resulting inorg. compn. was coated on an asbestos slate plate (sp. gr. 2.1, CaO 0.02%) to give a 35-.mu. coating film which was cured 30 min at 230.degree., giving a decorative plate with good flame resistance and surface hardness. .
