Thus, a mixt. of 39.2 g hydroxyiodoniumbenzene tosylate [80967-80-2] and 16.8 g I in 80 mL CHCl3 was stirred for 1 h to give 41.6 g dimedonylphenyliodonium tosylate (II) [81447-30-5]. A mixt. of 16.5 g II and 6.84 g K hexafluoroarsenate [17029-22-0] in 15 mL water was stirred for 2 h to give 12.9 g dimedonylphenyliodonium hexafluoroarsenate (III) [91815-43-9]. A soln. of CY 179 [25085-98-7] (biscycloaliph. epoxy resin) 98.9, III 1, and Cu stearate 0.1% was placed in a gel time meter at 120°. The mixt. was gelled in 19 min, whereas the mixt. without III did not gel after 5 h.
