Interpreting the silicogenic action of silica by means of monolayer studies
Interpreting the silicogenic action of silica by means of monolayer studies. Minones, J.; Conde, O. (Dep. Fis.-Quim. Apl., Univ. Santiago de Compostela, Spain). An. R. Acad. Farm., 50(1), 133-43 (Spanish) 1984. CODEN: ARAFAY. ISSN: 0034-0618. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) An attempt was made to elucidate the mechanism of interaction between silica and pulmonary macrophage lysosomal membranes. Octadecanol [26762-44-7], Me heptadecanoate [1731-92-6], and 2-nonadecanone [629-66-3] monolayers were used as models contg. functional groups which could possibly interact with silanol groups by H bonding. No evidence of interaction between polysilicic acid and the monolayers could be demonstrated in compression (surface tension) isotherm studies.
