After 2 h, the product comprised MeOH 0.86, HOCH2CH2OH 0.73, HCO2Me 0.02, EtOH 0.07, and HOCH2CHMeOH 0.01 mmol. When the synthesis was repeated without I, 1.38 mmol MeOH and 0.09 mmol HOCH2CH2OH were obtained.
