Thus, a mixt. of 228 g bisphenol A [80-05-7], 82.5 g NaOH, 1 L PrOH, and 200 mL allyl chloride [107-05-1] was refluxed 3 h and stripped to give bisphenol A diallyl ether [3739-67-1], which was mixed with a diethylene glycol monoether and heated at 200-5° (Claisen rearrangement), giving o,o'-diallylbisphenol A (II) [1745-89-7]. II was then treated with epichlorohydrin to give an epoxy resin (III) [30282-02-1], which (210.3 g) was mixed with 44.75 g I, 115.6 g hexahydrophthalic anhydride, 1 mL di-tert-Bu peroxide, and 2 mL benzyldimethylamine, giving a thermosetting compn. with improved heat resistance, compared with a compn. when bisphenol A-type resin was used instead of III.
