The latter was hydrolyzed to II. Under the same conditions from I and p-HSC6H4C6H4SH-p [6954-27-4], (p-HSC6H4)2O [17527-79-6] or (p-HSC6H4)2S [19362-77-7] were obtained in 70-80% yields oligomers III (Z = direct bond, O, S; n = 2-4), and their acetylated derivs. Identical oligomer [89202-66-4] was also obtained by UV-initiated addn. of (p-HSC6H4)2O to I in the presence of di-tert-Bu peroxide [110-05-4]. III were sol. only in hot high-boiling aprotic solvents, but the acetates of III were sol. in benzene, CHCl3, and other org. solvents. III were used as crosslinking agents for polythiophenylene, poly(phenylene sulfone sulfide), polyphenylene, bisphenol A polycarbonate [24936-68-3], and phenol-formaldehyde novolak resin [9003-35-4]. .
