Effect of frequency variation on the dielectric permittivity of an epoxy-anhydride resin system containing various metal acetylacetonate accelerators
Effect of frequency variation on the dielectric permittivity of an epoxy-anhydride resin system containing various metal acetylacetonate accelerators. Smith, J. D. B.; Kauffman, R. N. (Westinghouse R and D Cent., Pittsburgh, PA, USA). IEEE Trans. Electr. Insul., EI-19(1), 33-9 (English) 1984. CODEN: IETIAX. ISSN: 0018-9367. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 37 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) Section cross-reference(s): 76 The effect of small amts. of metal ion dopants on the dielec. permittivity (i.e., dielec. const. and dissipation factor) of an anhydride-cured epoxy resin was investigated. The evaluation was carried out using 10 different metal acetylacetonate additives; the permittivity of the cured resin was measured from 25 to 150° at 60 to 105 Hz. 14024-48-7 and 18039-69-5 are also in the experiment. Although the trends obsd. with the dielec. const. (i.e., with increasing frequency and temp.) were close to what was expected, the changes in dissipation factor showed some interesting features. Interaction effects between the epoxy-anhydride polymer chain segments and the metal ion by-products derived from the thermal dissocn. of metal acetylacetonates were mainly responsible for the obsd. effects. .
