No stepwise increases in local viscosity over the total polymer concn. range were obsd. for any of the mol. probes investigated. This result might be due to the greater homogeneity obtained in the polymg. medium compared with systems involving mixing of concd. polymer with solvent/fluor blends. Inhomogeneity in the latter case might lead to an effective partitioning of fluor in the solvent with regions of the mixt. These conculsions are based on fluorescence studies of changes in microviscosity during polymn. of vinyltoluene [25013-15-4] in the presence of 2,5-diphenyloxazole [92-71-7], 1,4-bis[2-(5-phenyloxazolyl)]benzene [1806-34-4], 1,1,4,4-tetraphenylbutadiene [1450-63-1], or 9-methylanthracene [779-02-2].
