Isopyrine-HCl [18342-39-7] was thus extd. from Rheumanol [63797-06-8] tablets with H2O, passed through a Zn2+-Amberlite column, and the eluted Zn2+ measured by titrn. with EDTA. The other active constituent of Rheumanol, phenylbutazone [50-33-9], was extd. from the tablet remnants with acetone and detd. by titrn. with NaOH in the presence of phenolphthalein. Results obtained with such methods are tabulated for all 7 pharmaceutical prepns. and compared to those obtained by other pharmacopeial techniques.
