Bromhexine chloride [611-75-6] and emetine-HCl [316-42-7] as expectorants increased VRTF, and the former showed far more remarkable effects. Codeine phosphate [52-28-8] and dextromethorphan-HCl [18609-21-7] as antitussives, isoproterenol-HCl [51-30-9], clorprenaline-HCl [6933-90-0] and C 78 [56776-01-3] as brochodilators decreased VRTF. On the other hand fominoben-HCl [24600-36-0] and eprazinone-HCl [10402-53-6] as antitussives increased VRTF. This method is applicable for evaluating not only the efficacy of expectorants which increase VRTF but also that of other drugs which decrease VRTF.
