The kinetic data are best fitted into the Avrami-Erofeyeev equation with n = 4. The obsd. rates of decompn. of samples obtained from hydrates are lower than that of the anhyd. samples. The role of deep surface traps and excess cation vacancies which scatter the excitons is invoked to explain the obsd. differences in the rates of decompn. 18810-58-7 which is the cas registry number of one of substances is just one of reagents here. The effect of pre-irradn. in activating the deep surface traps and accelerating the rate of growth of small nuclei is discussed. The effect of radiation induced defects N2- and N4- on decompn. is also discussed. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 78 (Inorganic Chemicals and Reactions) The decompn. of Ba(N3)2 by N2(3?u+) is accompanied by yellow luminescence (due to active N2) and intense scattering of the decompg. substance. The rate of decompn. increased with increasing discharge power at 100 Pa pressure. At low pressures (<10 Pa) the luminescence of active N2 does not appear; under these conditions N(2P,2D) and >10 Pa N(4S) atoms are formed. Under these conditions Ba(N3)2 does not decomp. NaN3 is not decompd. by N(4S) atoms and is slowly decompd. by active N2. .
