The role of deep surface traps and excess cation vacancies which scatter the excitons is invoked to explain the obsd. differences in the rates of decompn. 18810-58-7 which is the cas registry number of one of substances is just one of reagents here. The effect of pre-irradn. in activating the deep surface traps and accelerating the rate of growth of small nuclei is discussed. The effect of radiation induced defects N2- and N4- on decompn. is also discussed. .

The rate of decompn. increased with increasing discharge power at 100 Pa pressure. At low pressures (<10 Pa) the luminescence of active N2 does not appear; under these conditions N(2P,2D) and >10 Pa N(4S) atoms are formed. Under these conditions Ba(N3)2 does not decomp. NaN3 is not decompd. by N(4S) atoms and is slowly decompd. by active N2. .
