Removing contaminants from a well fluid and well system
Removing contaminants from a well fluid and well system. Oliver, John E.; Singer, Arnold M. (USA ). Eur. Pat. Appl. EP 103779 A2 28 Mar 1984,30 pp. DESIGNATED STATES: R: DE, FR, GB, NL. (English). (European Patent Organization). CODEN: EPXXDW. CLASS: IC: E21B043-25; E21B037-08; E21B033-13. APPLICATION: EP 83-108413 26 Aug 1983. PRIORITY: US 82-420140 20 Sep 1982; US 82-450519 17 Dec 1982; US 83-460130 24 Jan 1983. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 51 (Fossil Fuels, Derivatives, and Related Products) A petroleum well was completed by plugging with 7.5 m3 of 8.7 vol.% aq. Baroid EZ-Spot weighted with barite, treatment with seawater contg. 1.74 vol.% 2-ethylhexanol [104-76-7]-bis(hydroxyethyl)cetylamine [18924-67-9], a 2nd plugging with 0.01 wt.% aq. hydroxyethyl cellulose, and treatment with aq. CaCl2 (1.2 kg/L). The final portions of the seawater were as clear as originally introduced. The well equipment was free of solids, so the brine remained solids-free.
Chemically cleaning drilling/completion/packer brines
Chemically cleaning drilling/completion/packer brines. Oliver, John E., Jr.; Singer, Arnold M. (USA ). U.S. US 4456537 A 26 Jun 1984,5 pp. (English). (United States of America). CODEN: USXXAM. CLASS: IC: E21B043-00; C09K007-02. NCL: 252008550R. APPLICATION: US 81-310653 13 Oct 1981. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 51 (Fossil Fuels, Derivatives, and Related Products) A process is described for removing contaminating solids from high-d. salt-type aq. drilling-completion-packer fluid prior to its introduction into a wellbore. A small amt. (e.g., 0.5% vol.) of an aliph. alc. (e.g., n-hexanol [111-27-3]), and a surfactant (e.g., N,N-bis(hydroxyethyl)cetylamine [18924-67-9]) are thoroughly mixed with the fluid. After the solids agglomerate, the solids are sepd. from the fluid before introduction in a solids-free condition into the wellbore. The fluid has a d. £17 lb/gal and is a brine formed from Na, Ca or Zn chlorides or bromides.
