This suggests that these metabolic inhibitors affected the photoperiodic sensitivity rather than directly affecting flower initiation. Ferricyanide [13408-62-3] promoted flowering in both of these short-day and long-day duckweeds.

The autoxidn. of N,N'-bis(1,4-dimetylpentyl)-p-phenylenediamine [3081-14-9], N-isopropyl-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine [101-72-4], N-(1,4-dimethylbutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine [3081-14-9], and N,N'-diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine [74-31-7] in neutral, acidic, and basic media in the presence of CuSO4 and MnSO4 was examd. The highest reaction rates were obtained for basic and strongly acidic media. The reaction rate const. in the presence of Mn2+ was 100 times higher than in the absence of catalysts. The Mn2+ was much more effective as a catalyst than Cu2+. 74-31-7 and 18939-61-2 which are cas registry numbers of substances are two of reagents here. The Cu2+ acted as an electron acceptor while the Mn2+ acted as both electron acceptor and donor using the O dissolved in the reaction medium as intermediate. Thus, the autoxidn. was affected by H+ and OH-, as well as the metal ions. .
