Solvent donicity influence in the fluorescence emission of the lithium/1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone system
Solvent donicity influence in the fluorescence emission of the lithium/1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone system. In this study,190433-06-8 is also used. Improvement in the quantification of lithium. Rodriguez, Luis Cuadros; Linares, Carlos Jimenez; Ceba, Manueal Roman (Faculty Science, Univ. Granada, Granada E-18071, Spain). Analytical Letters, 30(4), 847-866 (English) 1997 Dekker. CODEN: ANALBP. ISSN: 0003-2719. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 79 (Inorganic Analytical Chemistry) Section cross-reference(s): 9, 64, 73 The fluorescence emission from the Li/1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone system shows a great enhancement in the presence of certain H2O-miscible solvents. This is justified from the donicity (nucleophilic properties) of the solvent that facilitates the solvation of the Li cation in soln. and the stabilization of an nondissociated ion-pair between the solvated Li cation and the 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinonate anion. A very sensitive anal. method is proposed for the spectrofluorometric detn. of Li based on its reaction with 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone (quinizarin) in a DMSO medium (90%) and in presence of NaOH. The fluorescence is measured at an excitation wavelength of 602 nm and an emission wavelength of 670 nm and it is stable at 25° at least 6 h. The calibration curve is linear over the concn. ranges of 2-40 mg/L of Li in an aq. matrix and 3-50 mg/L in a serum matrix; the relative std. deviations in the detn. of 20 mg/L of Li+ were 2.6% and 3.2%, resp. The proposed procedure was satisfactorily applied to the detn. of Li in drugs, dietetic products and human serum. .
