- Inhibitors for a-glucosidases. Frommer, Werner; Mueller, Lutz; Schmidt, Delf; Puls, Walter; Krause, Hans Peter (Bayer A.-G., Ger.). Ger. Offen. DE 2658561 29 Jun 1978, 17 pp. (German). (Germany). CODEN: GWXXBX. CLASS: IC: A61K037-64. APPLICATION: DE 76-2658561 23 Dec 1976. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 17 Nojirimycin (I) [15218-38-9], 1-deoxynojirimycin (II) [19130-96-2] and/or D-glucono-d-lactam are used as intestinal a-glucosidase [9001-42-7] inhibitors for treatment of adipositis, diabetes, hyperlipoproteinemia, gastritis, caries and related ailments, and also as feed additives for decreasing fat deposition in domestic animals and decreasing the amt. of protein feed required by these animals. For example, 1.5 ′ 10-7 M I and 1.75 ′ 10-7 M II produced 50% inhibition of saccharase [9001-57-4] in vitro. A bird feed contained wheat 200, corn 340, soybean meal 360.3, tallow 60, CaHPO4 15, CaCO2 10, iodized NaCl 4, and a vitamin and mineral mix 7.5 g, as well as 3.2 g of a premix comprising 1600 mg II, 1 g DL-methionine and the rest soybean meal.
- The effects of inhibitors of glucosidase I on the formation of Sindbis virus
- The effects of inhibitors of glucosidase I on the formation of Sindbis virus. Schlesinger, Sondra; Koyama, A. H.; Malfer, Carol; Gee, Sherry L.; Schlesinger, Milton J. (Sch. Med., Washington Univ., St. Louis, MO 63110, USA). Virus Res., 2(2), 139-49 (English) 1985. CODEN: VIREDF. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Deoxynojirimycin (I) [19130-96-2] and castanospermine (II) [79831-76-8], which inhibit glucosidase I [73699-12-4], prevented the removal of the outmost glucose [50-99-7] residue from asparagine-linked oligosaccharides of sindbis virus and caused a temp.-sensitive inhibition in the growth of the virus. Both drugs also inhibited the proteolytic cleavage of the viral glycoprotein precursor, PE2, to the virion glycoprotein, E2, but did not prevent the migration of the glycoprotein to the cell surface. Thus, removal of glucose residues during the processing of asparagine-linked oligosaccharides in this virus appears crit. for the protein to achieve a functional and stable conformation.
