Control of Oxalis pes-caprae L
Control of Oxalis pes-caprae L. with pre-emergence and post-emergence treatments. Damanakis, M. (Benaki Phytopathol. Inst., Athens, Greece). Proc. Br. Weed Control Conf., 13, Vol. 1, 321-7 (English) 1976. CODEN: BWCPAI. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) Pot and field expts. to investigate the effect on Oxalis pes-caprae of pre-emergence and post-emergence herbicide treatments were carried out. Chlorthiamid [1918-13-4] and dichlobenil [1194-65-6] as pre-emergence treatments gave complete control while glyphosate [1071-83-6] and paraquat [4685-14-7] as post-emergence treatments gave also very efficient control. Regrowth of the weed the following year suggested that a 2 to 3 year herbicide application program is necessary for total eradication.
Herbicides for the spot treatment of ragwort in pasture
Herbicides for the spot treatment of ragwort in pasture. Thompson, A. (Soil Field Res. Organ., Ruakura Agric. Res. Cent., Hamilton, N. Z.). Proc. N. Z. Weed Pest Control Conf., 30, 34-7 (English) 1977. CODEN: PZWPAL. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) Six herbicides were evaluated for spot treatment of ragwort (Senecio jacobaea) in pasture. Picloram (I) [1918-02-1], chlorthiamid [1918-13-4], and dichlobenil [1194-65-6], were the most effective. All 3 compds. were toxic to clover, with chlorthiamid showing soil sterilant properties, persistence and lack of selectivity towards pasture species. There was no difference in herbicide effect due to soil type.
