Methabenzthiazuron [18691-97-9] and terbutryne [886-50-0] were effective against broad-leaved weeds and gave higher yield as compared to 2,4-D [94-75-7]. On sandy loam calcareous soil, isoproturon [34123-59-6] (1.0 kg/ha), metoxuron [19937-59-8] (1.25 and 1.35 kg/ha), and methabenzthiazuron (1.5 kg/ha preemergence) gave excellent control of Phalaris minor. Diclofopmethyl [51338-27-3] was effective against P. minor but was ineffective against broad-leaved weeds. Except 2,4-D, none of the herbicides used were effective against Circum arvense.

Sub-ppb sensitivity in surface water samples was shown without extensive sample pretreatment. Electrode contamination occurs but does not seriously interfere in the routine anal. of such samples. Selective detn. (at 1.0 V) of metoxuron [19937-59-8] in the presence of other phenylureas allows the detection of 30 parts/trillion of the herbicide in surface water.
