Effect of some organic inhibitors on corrosion and hydrogen absorption by high-carbon steel
Effect of some organic inhibitors on corrosion and hydrogen absorption by high-carbon steel. Singh, Inder; Dey, A. K.; Altekar, V. A. (Natl. Metall. Lab., India). NML Tech. J., 24(3-4), 36-9 (English) 1982. CODEN: NLMJA3. ISSN: 0027-6839. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 55 (Ferrous Metals and Alloys) Effect of amine- and urea-contg. inhibitors on the crack susceptibility was investigated for the wire of 0.86% C steel in 1 N H2SO4 at 40°. Tests at <10-2 M were made on thiourea [62-56-6], allylthiourea [109-57-9], N,N'-diethylthiourea [105-55-5], N-ethylaniline [103-69-5], N,N-diethylaniline [91-66-7], diamylamine [2050-92-2], and dicyclohexylamine [101-83-7]. Inhibitor efficiency increased at the higher concn. The wire was not susceptible to cracking in the presence of amines, which inhibited mainly the anodic reactions. Cracks occurred at a higher concn. of thiourea-contg. inhibitors, in assocn. with the H2S release at the cationic sites.
Electron transfer to triplet fullerene C60
Electron transfer to triplet fullerene C60. Arbogast, James W.; Foote, Christopher S.In this study, 2050-92-2 and 109-89-7 are also used.; Kao, Michelle (Dep. Chem. Biochem., Univ. California, Los Angeles, CA 90024-1569, USA). J. Am. Chem. Soc., 114(6), 2277-9 (English) 1992. CODEN: JACSAT. ISSN: 0002-7863. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 67 (Catalysis, Reaction Kinetics, and Inorganic Reaction Mechanisms) Section cross-reference(s): 22 Redn. of triplet C60 by electron donors was studied in benzonitrile. Transient absorption spectra of C60 radical anion from 900-1120 nm and of arom. amine radical cations were obsd. The rate const. for electron transfer quenching as a function of donor oxidn. potential follows the Weller relationship (D. Rehm and A. Weller, 1970); the rate const. for the exothermic reactions is somewhat lower than in more common org. solvents because of the high viscosity of benzonitrile. .
