Dephosphorization and desulfurization of ferroalloys with alkaline earth metals
Dephosphorization and desulfurization of ferroalloys with alkaline earth metals. Koloyartsev, V. L.; Safiullin, R. B.; Zhuravlev, V. M.; Mel'nichenko, A. A. (USSR). Proizvod. Ferrosplavov, 3, 160-71 (Russian) 1974. CODEN: PVFSAJ.Several reagents with their cas registry numbers 12032-36-9 and 7723-14-0 are used here. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 54 (Extractive Metallurgy) Solid ferrochromium [11114-46-8] and ferromanganese [12604-53-4] were treated with molten Mg or Ca at 900 and 1100.degree., resp., to remove S and P. The Mg-treated ferroalloy was leached with a 100% excess of 0.2 N HCl at 100.degree. for 10-30 min. The content of S and P in the purified alloy was .ltoreq.0.02% each. A 400-500% excess of Mg or a 2500-3000 excess of Ca over their stoichiometric amts. are necessary for binding S and P as MgS [12032-36-9] and Mg3P2 [12057-74-8] or CaS [20548-54-3] and Ca3P2 [1305-99-3]. The grain size of the ferrochromium to be purified should be <0.315 mm. .
Removal of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides from waste gas
Removal of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides from waste gas. Ohshima, Michio; Okino, Susumu (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., Japan). Japan. Kokai JP 51117175 15 Oct 1976 Showa, 4 pp. (Japanese). (Japan). CODEN: JKXXAF. CLASS: IC: B01D053-34. APPLICATION: JP 75-41850 8 Apr 1975. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 59 (Air Pollution and Industrial Hygiene) In the removal of SOx and NOx from waste gases by treating with a lime slurry contg. iodide such as CaI2, iodide in the spent slurry is recovered and reused in the absorption process. The spent slurry is treated with H2SO4 and filtered to sep. gypsum. Part of the filtrate is recycled to the absorption process, and the remainder is treated with NO2 in an I2 separator to produce N gas contg. I2 and NO, and discarded. The N gas contg. I2 and NO is treated with spent slurry contg. CaSO3 from the absorption process as the main component to recover I2 as CaI2 in the slurry. The remaining NO-contg. N gas is oxidized to NO2, and recycled for the I2 separator. Thus, NO 100, N 1000, and O 5 mL/min were mixed in an oxidizing vessel, and passed successively through 200 mL aq. 70mM CaI2 (pH 3) and 200 ml aq. 5% CaSO3 [20548-54-3] slurry (pH 5). After 30 min, the CaI2 concn. decreased to 3mM, but the treated gas contained no I2.
