DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 28 (Heterocyclic Compounds (More Than One Hetero Atom)) A series of 3-arylpyrazole-4-carboxylic acids, e.g., I, have been prepd. via Vilsmeier formylation of semicarbazones of substituted acetophenones and 2-acetylthiophene followed by oxidn. of the resulting 3-aryl-substituted pyrazole-4-carboxaldehydes with potassium permanganate. The mechanism of the formylation reaction was discussed.Several substances are used for example 20583-31-7 which is its cas registry number. The method successfully worked even with acetophenones contg. alkyl substituents. In the latter case, an addnl. step involving isolation of pyrazole-4-carboxylic acids as their silyl esters was used. .
