The biosynthesis of streptothricin F
The biosynthesis of streptothricin F. Part 4. The biosynthesis of the streptolidine moiety in streptothricin F. Martinkus, Kazys J.; Tann, Chou Hong; Gould, Steven J.Chemicals with cas numbers 88597-14-2 and 2067-80-3 also play role. (Sch. Pharm., Univ. Connecticut, Storrs, CT 06268, USA). Tetrahedron, 39(21), 3493-505 (English) 1983. CODEN: TETRAB. ISSN: 0040-4020. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 10 (Microbial Biochemistry) A series of arginines specifically labeled either with 13C and 15N or with 2H were synthesized and fed to Streptomyces L-1689-23. The streptothricin F (I) isolated in each case was analyzed by either 13C or 2H NMR, resp., in order to det. the labeling pattern obtained. Apparently, arginine is metabolized to a b-ketoarginine, possibly via a pyridoxal phosphate adduct, and then via cyclization, redn., rearrangement, and hydroxylation to the streptolidine moiety. The pathway described can also account for the formation of other known antibiotics, and for b-hydroxy-g-amino acids, generally. .
