Sci., 21(6), 1569-77 (English) 1977. CODEN: JAPNAB. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 38 (Elastomers, Including Natural Rubber) Section cross-reference(s): 73 The acrylic rubber and rubber-modified plastics can be fixed and stained by treating the sample with a hydrazine hydrate [7803-57-8] soln. for 96 h to produce acrylic acid hydrazides and soaking for .gtoreq.1 h at 60.degree. in OsO4 [20816-12-0] soln. The procedure was applied to molded acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer (I) [9003-54-7] contg. elastomeric Bu acrylate-methyl methacrylate-triallyl cyanurate copolymer [53192-25-9] and 2 com. acrylic rubber-modified I.

- Detection of amphoterization reactions during the electrochemical reduction of osmium tetroxide and chlorodioxoosmates(VI) in hydrochloric acid media. Mouchel, Bernard; Bremard, Claude (Lab. Chim. Miner. Appl., Univ. Lille-I, Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Fr.). C. R. Hebd. Seances Acad. Sci., Ser. C, 286(7), 225-8 (French) 1978. CODEN: CHDCAQ. ISSN: 0567-6541. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 72 (Electrochemistry) The electrochem. redn. at a Pt electrode of bath OsO4 [20816-12-0] and of chlorodioxoosmate(VI) anions in concd. HCl solns. leads to the obtaining of chloroosmate(III) anions. The processes of electron and proton transfer are not simple. They are complicated by the following amphoterization reactions: 4Os(III) + Os(VIII) ? 5Os(IV) and 2Os(III) + Os(VI) ? 3Os(IV). The formation of Os(IV) by these reactions was shown by using a combination of electrochem. (steady-state and cyclic voltammetry, const. potential coulometry) and spectrophotometric techniques.
