Plasty Kauc., 13(10), 297-9 (Czech) 1976. CODEN: PLKCAS. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 36 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) Stabilizers are leached out of polypropylene (I) [9003-07-0] films by hot water at measurable rates, but at ambient temp. the leaching rates are too slow to have any effect on the aging of I. The most rapid leaching by water at 60. 119-47-1 which is the cas registry number is also used here.degree. occurs for the phenolic stabilizers, e.g. Irganox 1076 [2082-79-3], while the UV absorbers, e.g. Cyasorb UV 531 [1843-05-6], are leached out very slowly, and the S-contg. stabilizers, e.g. dioctyl thiodipropionate [3006-27-7], have intermediate leaching out rates. .

Chem., Sheffield City Polytech., Sheffield S1 1WB, UK). Chem. Ind. (London), (6), 198-9 (English) 1987. CODEN: CHINAG. ISSN: 0009-3068. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Food and Feed Chemistry) The hindered phenol antioxidants octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate [2082-79-3] and pentaerythritoltetrakis-3-(3,5-di-tert-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate [6683-19-8] incorporated into polyvinylchloride [9002-86-2], polyethylene [9002-88-4], and polypropylene [9003-07-0] polymers on exposure to progressive doses of g-ray irradn. were progressively destroyed. At a radiation dose of 10 kGy, 30-40% of the antioxidant activity in polyvinylchloride and polyethylene was lost. These data are discussed with respect to suppression of the ambient temp. oxidn. of polyolefins followed g-ray irradn. and migration of antioxidant degrdn. products in g-ray-irradiated prepackaged food. .
