- Effect of dietary essential fatty acid levels on the distribution of polyunsaturated fatty acids in the lipoproteins of the rat pup. Nouvelot, A.; Dedonder, Edith; Sezille, G.; Bourre, J. M. (Lab. Physiopathol. Lipides, Fac. Pharm., Lile 59045, Fr.). Reprod., Nutr., Dev., 25(1B), 251-3 (French) 1985. CODEN: RNDED4. ISSN: 0181-1916. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 18 (Animal Nutrition) Feeding of diets contg. 0.2, 1, 2, or 9% linolenic acid [463-40-1] to mother rats had variable effects on the long-chain polyunsatd. fatty acid contents of lipoprotein phospholipids of their progeny of age 15 days; the diets contained peanut oil, rape oil, or mixts. of these 2 oils. 4,7,10,13,16-Docosapentaenoic acid [2313-14-6] was most affected; it decreased in phospholipids of all lipoproteins. 7,10,13,16-Docosatetraenoic acid also decreased in all lipoprotein phospholipids, and 7,10,13,16,19-docosapentaenoic acid increased. 4,7,10,13,16,19-Docosahexaenoic acid increased only in high-d. lipoprotein phospholipids with increased in dietary linolenic acid. These results are discussed in relation to effects of dietary fatty acids on liver phospholipid synthesis and brain membrane lipids.
- Modification of fatty acid composition of rat heart lipids by feeding cod liver oil
- Modification of fatty acid composition of rat heart lipids by feeding cod liver oil. Gudbjarnason, Sigmundur; Oskarsdottir, Gudrun (Sci.Several substances are used for example 506-32-1 and 60-33-3 which are their cas registry numbers. Inst., Univ. Iceland, Reykjavik, Iceland). Biochim. Biophys. Acta, 487(1), 10-15 (English) 1977. CODEN: BBACAQ. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 18 (Animal Nutrition) Modification of the fatty acid compn. of cardiac phospholipids and neutral lipids was studied in rats fed 10% cod-liver oil. The results reflected the dynamic state of esterified fatty acids in neutral lipids and phospholipids of heart muscle. In cardiac neutral lipids there was a moderate increase in exogenous fatty acids, (n - 9) [2462-94-4], (n - 11) [506-36-5], (n - 3) [1553-41-9], and (n - 3) [2091-24-9], in animals fed cod-liver oil, and a relative decrease in endogenous fatty acids, [57-10-3], (n - 6) [60-33-3], and (n - 6) [506-32-1]. Increased dietary (n - 3) increased the content of this fatty acid in phospholipids with replacement of (n - 6) and (n - 6). The (n - 3) replaced one-third of (n - 6); further increase in (n - 3) was accompanied by a decrease in [57-11-4]. An inverse relation between (n - 6) and (n - 3) polyene fatty acids in cardiac phospholipids suggests a replacement of (n - 6) fatty acids by (n - 3) fatty acids. .
