It is recommended that at least 30 days elapse between leptophos application and harvest of apples and grapes.

- Studies on resistance in Egyptian cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd). I. Field resistance and cross resistance in the vicinity of Alexandria in relation to esterases activity. Moustafa, Fathia I.; El-Sebae, A. H.; Mohamed, M. A.; Zeid, M. (Fac. Agric., Univ. Alexandria, Alexandria, Egypt). Alexandria J. Agric. Res., 25(3), 489-94 (English) 1977. CODEN: AAGRAF. ISSN: 0044-7250. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) Section cross-reference(s): 12 A lab. and 2 field (Abees and El-Tarh) strains of the cotton leafworm (S. littoralis) were tested. The 2 field strains showed susceptibility to DDT [50-29-3]. Lindane [58-89-9] was more effective against the Abees strain than to lab. strain. The 2 field strains developed some resistance to the organophosphorus insecticides, Valexon [14816-18-3], Cyolane [947-02-4], cytrolane [950-10-7] and Phosvel [21609-90-5]. methyl parathion [298-00-0] was more effective for the El-Tarh strain and showed cross resistance in the Abees strain. The high levels of resistance for organophosphorus insecticides was believed to be due to excessive use of Valexon to control cotton leafworm in Alexandria vicinity. El-Tarh and Abees strains also developed some cross resistance for the carbamate insecticides, Zectran [315-18-4] and UC-10854 [64-00-6]. Estn. of esterase [9013-79-0] activity indicated that aliph. and arom. esterase were much lower in the field strains than in the lab. one. LD50 values for the insecticides were given.
