Attempts to use p,p'-diaminodiphenyl sulfone [80-08-0] as the diamine gave N,N'-biscitroconimido-p,p'-diphenyl sulfone [55704-23-9] and N-citraconimido-N'-itaconimido-p,p'-diphenyl sulfone [66461-28-7] instead of the bisitaconimide.
