Eleven of them were identified as cis-heptadeca-1,8-diene-4,6-diyne-3,10-diol [63910-76-9]; trans-heptadeca-1,8-diene-4,6-diyne-3,10-diol [63910-76-9]; falcarindiol [55297-87-5] falcarinolone [18089-23-1], cis-10-acetoxyheptadeca-1,8-diene-4,6-diyn-3-ol [63910-77-0]; trans-10-acetoxyheptadeca-1,8-diene-4,6-diyn-3-ol [63910-77-0]; cis-heptadeca-1,9-diene-4,6-diyn-3-ol-8-one [63767-81-7]; 2-cis-9-cis-heptadeca-diene-4,6-diyn-1-ol [63767-82-8]; falcarinone [4117-11-7]; falcarinol [21852-80-2] and 2-cis-9-cis-heptadecadiene-4,6-diyn-1-al [63767-83-9] by UV-, IR-, mass and NMR spectrog., and thin-layer chromatog. The air-dried and chopped underground parts of A. podagraria were extd. with 1:1 petroleum ether/Et2O under N2 atm. at room temp. The ext. was fractionated by pressurized liq. chromatog. using a hexane/Et2O mixt. eluant. Two components were only partially identified.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Antinociceptive constituents of the Chinese crude drug Toki (the roots of Angelica acutiloba var. acutiloba) were investigated. by means of chem. fractionation and bioassay. Seven active compds. that inhibited HOAC-induced writhing in mice were isolated from Toki for the 1st time and identified as falcarinol [21852-80-2], falcarindiol [55297-87-5], falcarinolone [18089-23-1] (polyacetylenes), choline [62-49-7], scopoletin [92-61-5], umbelliferone [93-35-6] and vanillic acid [121-34-6]. Among these, the 3 polyacetylenes were most active in the writhing test. Falcarindiol and choline also showed antinociceptive activities in the retrograde injection test of bradykinin into a carotid artery on rats.
