The amt. of adhesive can be reduced because the pressure of the evolved gas improves the bonding. Thus, 8 parts of a mixt. contg. I-based adhesive 125, 15% aq. NH4Cl 2.5, paraffin emulsion 15, and H2O 40 vol. parts and 15% AIBN was used on 90 parts wood chips in the prodn. of chipboards which liberated 7.9 mg CH2O/100 g and had bending strength 17.8 MPa, strength normal to the plane 0.4 MPa, and d. 720 kg.m-3.
