- Characterization of aminosaccharins in commercial sodium saccharin produced by the Maumee process. Radford, T.; Cook, J. M.; Dalsis, D. E.; Wolf, E.; Voigt, M. (Corp. Res. Dev., Coca-Cola Co., Atlanta, GA 30301, USA). Food Chem. Toxicol., 23(4-5), 419-28 (English) 1985. CODEN: FCTOD7. ISSN: 0278-6915. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Food and Feed Chemistry) The most abundant polar impurities detected by ion-pair HPLC Na saccharin [128-44-9] produced by the Maumee process were identified as 5- [22094-61-7] and 6-aminosaccharin [22094-62-8]. The combined levels of these compds. in the samples analyzed ranged 99-152 mg/kg. Other less abundant polar impurities identified in Maumee process Na saccharin were 7-aminosaccharin [89975-86-0] and o-sulfamoylbenzoic acid [632-24-6]. Mutagenicity assays of 5-aminosaccharin, 6-aminosaccharin, and a polar impurity fraction isolated from Maumee saccharin, gave neg. results.
