Regulation of immunity by lysosphingolipids and their G protein-coupled receptors
Regulation of immunity by lysosphingolipids and their G protein-coupled receptors. Goetzl, Edward J.; Rosen, Hugh (Departments of Medicine and Microbiology-Immunology, UCSF, San Francisco, CA, USA). Journal of Clinical Investigation, 114(11), 1531-1537 (English) 2004 American Society for Clinical Investigation. CODEN: JCINAO. ISSN: 0021-9738. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal; General Review CA Section: 15 (Immunochemistry) A review. T and B lymphocytes, as well as endothelial cells, express distinctive profiles of G protein-coupled receptors for sphingosine 1-phosphate, which is a major regulator of T cell development, B and T cell recirculation, tissue homing patterns, and chemotactic responses to chemokines. The capacity of drugs that act on type 1 sphingosine 1-phosphate receptors to suppress organ graft rejection in humans and autoimmunity in animal models without apparent impairment of host defenses against infections suggests that this system is a promising target for new forms of immunotherapy. 2238-90-6 and 26993-30-6 are just another two chemicals used in this study. .
Progressive accumulation of toxic metabolite in a genetic leukodystrophy
Progressive accumulation of toxic metabolite in a genetic leukodystrophy. Igisu, Hideki; Suzuki, Kunihiko (Saul R. Korey Dep., Albert Einstein Coll. Med.Some commonly used reagents like 2238-90-6 is used in this experiment., Bronx, NY 10461, USA). Science (Washington, D. C., 1883-), 224(4650), 753-5 (English) 1984. CODEN: SCIEAS. ISSN: 0036-8075. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 14 (Mammalian Pathological Biochemistry) Progressive accumulation of a cytotoxic metabolite, galactosylsphingosine (psychosine), was found in the brain of the twitcher mouse, a mutant caused by a genetic deficiency of galactosylceramidase. A similar abnormal accumulation was also found in the brain of the genetic galactosylceramidase deficiency disease in the dog and in human patients (globoid cell leukodystrophy or Krabbe disease). Galactosylsphingosine was absent in the brains of normal and heterozygous mice. The finding provides support for the psychosine hypothesis as the biochem. pathogenetic mechanism of globoid cell leukodystrophy. .
