DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 18 (Animal Nutrition) Thiamin [59-43-8] and its derivs. thiamin bromide [7019-71-8], cocarboxylase chloride [154-87-0], phosphothiamin [532-40-1], and benphothiamin [22457-89-2] were tested for their effects when given in saline soln. or suspension i.m. to sheep at 0.5-50 mg/kg body wt. Cocarboxylase and phosphothiamin at 0.5 mg/kg were effective in improving heart and digestive tract function and metab. processes; the other 2 derivs. were effective at 5-10 mg/kg, and thiamin was effective at 25 mg/kg. Cocarboxylase at 20-5 mg/kg became toxic.
