HClO4 + LiClO4 (pH 1) at a controlled potential of 0.9 V (vs. SCE). A very adherent, black and smooth polymeric film was formed on a flat platinum electrode. Based on chronoamperograms, the electropolymn. was found to be first order with respect to monomer. IR spectroscopy revealed that polymn. occurred via N-C linkages. 581078-96-8 and 2246-44-8 are cas registry numbers of chemicals which are used as reagents here. Gel permeation chromatog. showed that chains of molar masses up to 1600 g/mol were the most abundant species in the polymer. The electrochem. prepd. poly(2-methyl-1-naphthylamine) film was electroactive, displaying two-step oxidn. and redn. at 22°C. The film cyclovoltammetric response depends strongly on temp. The electrochem. activity manifests itself up to a temp. of only 60°C. .
