DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 71 (Nuclear Technology) A selective multiphoton dissocn. process was used to enrich 13C [14762-74-4] in CF3I [2314-97-8]. A sepn. factor of nearly 600 was achieved for irradn. of 0.1 torr of CF3I at -80° with the R(14) line of the 9.6 m CO2 laser transition. An investigation of the dependence of the enrichment factor on pressure indicates that collisions during the dissocn. are effective in destroying the selectivity. The multiphoton dissocn. is very efficient. At laser energy fluences of 1.2 J/cm2, 1 in every 11 absorbed photons contributes its energy to the breaking of the C-I bond.
