The in vitro antibacterial effect of Luticaosu was between the penicillin and amikacin. Almost no protective effects were obsd. against the mice model infected by Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas pyocyaneus. Plasma drug concn. was 100 mg.L-1 at 15 min following the i.v. administration, and the plasma drug concn. was only 0.08 mg.L-1 at 40 min. in rabbits. The agent was rapidly metabolized and lost its antibacterial activity. .
