Thus, a mixt. of 1 mol di(trimethylolpropane) [23235-61-2], 2.5 mol steric acid [57-11-4], and 0.5 mol 2-ethylhexanoic acid [149-57-5] was heated with 3% p-toluenesulfonic acid and 50% xylene at 160-260.degree. with H2O removal, decolorized, and steamed to give a wax of OH no. 61, m. 50-5.degree..
