Preparation of a new complexing resin modified by SPADNS. Application to separation of metal ions. Marina, M. L.; Gonzalez, V.; Rodriguez, A. R. (Dep. Quim. Anal., Univ. Alcala de Henares, Madrid, Spain). Bull. Soc. Chim. Fr., (11-12, Pt. 1), 339-45 (English) 1984. CODEN: BSCFAS. ISSN: 0037-8968. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 38 (Plastics Fabrication and Uses) The use of the org. ligand SPADNS [23647-14-5] to prep. complexing exchangers from conventional anion exchange resins, Amberlite IRA 400 [9002-24-8] and Amberlite IRA 910 [37264-66-7] is discussed. The variation or retention of ligand on the resins, as a function of different parameters, such as shaking time of resin with soln., initial concn. of ligand in soln. and pH, has been detd. The resin modified by SPADNS does not alter when dil. mineral acids are passed through the column. The dependence of distribution coeff. on pH obtained has been studied by the batch method for: Ag(I), Cu(II), Ni, Co(II), Zn, Pb, Cd, Mn(II), Ca, Mg, Fe(III), Cr(III), Al(III), and it shows differences on retention of metal ions on resin. This selectivity of resin has made it possible to sep. the following mixts. by selective elution: Cu-Co, Cu-Ni, Cu-Mn, Cu-Zn, Ca-Cu, Mn-Ni, Cd-Cu, Mn-Zn-Cu.

Fluorine analysis of fluorocarbon-treated fabrics. Albright, William T.; Bendeck, Victor E., Jr. (Amoco Fabr. and Fibers Co., Atlanta, GA, USA). Book Pap. - Int.Some commonly used reagents like 7782-41-4 and 23647-14-5 are used in this experiment. Conf. Exhib., AATCC, 76-80 (English) 1986. CODEN: BPIAEQ. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 40 (Textiles and Fibers) Section cross-reference(s): 79 F was detd. as F- on polypropene fabrics by burning the sample in excess O2 in a steel bomb, collecting the washings from the bomb, treating with Na 2-(p-sulfophenylazo)-1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-naphthalenedisulfonate [23647-14-5] and zirconyl-acid reagent (prepd. from ZrOCl2.8H2O and HCl) and spectrophotometrically detg. F- by comparison with samples of known concn. An electrode method involving a total ionic strength adjustment buffer was also studied but was discarded because of the 3-min wait required before reading potentials. A polypropene sample treated with a Scotchgard product analyzed for 6.93 ± 0.15% F with coeff. of variation 2.11%. Interference from various pigment concs. was detd. .
